WingIts® Fasteners were originally designed for the aerospace industry. The first fastener was about 3/16” tall and designed to be used in the next-generation composite-skin fighter jets. WingIts® fastening technology was superior to the precision-rivet system being used, allowing for looser tolerances and eliminating more than half the quantity needed in installation. This fastening technology needed to be able to handle millions of cycles of vector (directional) and vibratory forces. WingIts® brought this fastening technology to Commercial Construction by creating a fastener that could install grab bars to exceed building codes in existing conditions. This was so significant that the building industry, HUD, and the Department of Justice (DOJ) attended the independent testing to verify the results. Since 1999, the DOJ and HUD have accepted WingIts® Fasteners as the only alternative to “adequate structural blocking”.
