How long a 200ah battery will last depends on a number of factors, including, the efficiency of your inverter, depth of discharge, and how much load you are running. A new 200ah deep cycle battery connected to a 12v inverter, will last 10 hours if discharged with a load of 150 watts at 80% efficiency and depth discharge. If your load is 300 watts, however, the battery will only last for about half that time.

How to calculate Inverter battery backup time

To find how long will a 200ah battery last, first, you'll need add up the total wattage of the devices you want to power with your 200ah battery bank. Let's say you want to power six 9-watt LED light bulbs, a 45 watt TV and a 90 watt fan for 10 hours.

You will not only need an inverter capable of carrying the load, but also a battery bank capable of powering the load for the required backup period.

After you have determined your load's power consumption, the efficiency of the inverter, size and voltage of the battery bank, you can use this formula to determine how long will a 200ah battery will last:

12v (Battery Bank Voltage) x 200ah (Battery Capacity) x 0.8 (Depth of Discharge) x 0.8 (Efficiency) / 189 watts = 8 Hours

The above result shows that a single 200ah battery cannot power a load of 189 watts continually for 10 hours (at 80% depth of discharge and efficiency) to get the desired result (without damaging the battery) you would need to add an additional battery.

12v (Battery Bank Voltage) x 400ah (Battery Capacity) x 0.8 (Depth of Discharge) x 0.8 (Efficiency) / 189 watts = 16 Hours

Deep Cycle Hybrid GEL Battery 12 Volt 200Ah

1. How many life cycles does this GEL battery have?

This Renogy Deep Cycle Hybrid GEL Battery enables more than 750 charge/discharge cycles at 50% DOD (Depth of Discharge) in cyclic applications.

2. Will the battery come with the terminals? And if not, what's the size of the connector terminals?

Yes, it comes with two screw terminals. The size is M8 x 1.25 x 16 mm.

3. Can this be used as a chassis battery to crank my diesel pusher?

We do not recommend using a deep cycle battery for a starter battery. We recommend you use a specific starter CCA battery.

4.What is the difference between Hybrid and Pure GEL batteries? Can I use this Hybrid GEL battery with a Pure GEL battery together?

The differences between Hybrid and Pure GEL batteries are their electrolyte materials and sealing construction. Renogy Deep Cycle Hybrid GEL Batteries are made of proprietary plate composition, patented gel electrolyte, and improved 6-layer sealing structure to ensure excellent performance. We recommend only using consistent battery types. DO NOT mix Hybrid GEL and Pure GEL batteries together as it will reduce overall performance and may cause damage to the battery bank.

5. How to properly store the Gel battery?

Store it in a dry and cool (-4&#;~140&#; / -20&#;~60&#; ) place. Make sure that it is 100% charged before storing it, and recharge after three months.

6. How can I fix this GEL battery if I over discharged it?

It can be restored to normal voltage and continues to operate normally through low-current charging. Please note that frequent over-discharge may cause irreversible damage to the battery's life. To avoid cycle-life shortening, we recommend not discharging the battery below 50%.

7. What is the maximum charge current? Optimal charge current?

The max charge current for this battery is 60A. The optimal charge current should be based on whatever the charge controller will give it as the optimal charges based on the current level of the battery. An intelligent battery charger or solar charger will take care of the optimal charge for the battery.

8. Is this battery suitable for service indoors in a living/working area?

Yes, it is. This Renogy Deep Cycle Hybrid GEL battery is suitable for on-grid and off-grid applications so that you can use it on your marine, RV/Van, off-grid, home backup power supplies, emergency power systems, medical devices, and more. Unlike a Flooded battery, it does not generate any toxic hydrogen gas during working, so it's a safer and cleaner battery. You can use it in a living/working area without any worries.

9. Does this battery have a vent hole I can attach to vent it to the outdoors?

No, it does not have a vent.

10. Can I connect batteries in series and in parallel?

Yes, you can. The maximum number that can be connected in parallel is 4. As for in series, there is no limitations. We recommend connecting batteries with the same voltage and capacity from the same brand. And we also recommend using a battery balancer to extend the battery service life when multiple batteries are connected in series and/or in parallel.

11. How should I handle the battery after it arrives?

When you receive your battery, please be aware that it may have a low State of Charge (SOC) due to the transportation and storage process. To ensure its optimal performance, we recommend charging the battery right away to avoid over-discharge. If you plan to store the battery for an extended period without usage, we suggest charging it to a SOC of 30% to 50% and performing maintenance every three months. These steps will help maintain its functionality and performance over time.
