Recently,China has achieved a new feat in wind energy with the launch of the world's largest floating wind turbine, developed indigenously, in Jiangsu. The colossal turbine boasts a rotor diameter of 260 meters, covering an area equivalent to seven standard soccer fields, and is capable of generating a staggering 62 million kWh of clean electricity per year. In another breakthrough, the final turbine at the world's highest-altitude wind farm in Tibet has been commissioned, marking full capacity operation. Additionally, China is on track to surpass 45 million kilowatts in offshore wind power capacity by the end of this year.
Current figures reveal that China's wind power installed capacity has now exceeded 500 million kilowatts, representing 50%of the global total. In the first ten months of this year, the country's wind power generation has topped 758 billion kWh, constituting nearly one-tenth of the national electricity output.
China has solidified its position as the globe's largest manufacturer of wind power equipment. The country's production capacities for wind turbines, blades, and generators now command 60%, 64%,and 73%of the global market shares, respectively. In 2023,four out of the top five global wind turbine suppliers by new installations were Chinese, with a total export of 671 wind turbines. Advancements in technology and the maturation of the industry chain have accelerated the international expansion of Chinese wind power enterprises, contributing significantly to the global shift towards cleaner energy sources.(CCTV)
