When do you want to have your building delivered. In years past, we quoted most buildings to have drawings completed in 2 weeks and the building delivered 6 weeks after that for an 8 week total turn around. We wish we could get back to those days. With the huge demand on steel mills and steel products in general since , we have seen lead times continue to get longer and longer. As of the end of July we can offer two options for when you will get your building. In some locations we can offer 14-16 weeks, in other areas it's 30+ weeks. Depending on your situation, this may give you the time you need to do your clearing, dirt work, and work through the permit process. We are always up front with you on what to really expect so that you are not surprised later.

I would echo everything readhead is telling you. His advice is of the type you can't usually buy because its totally honest. We did all site prep and erected our own 60x150 around . My dad had a Ceco buildings dealership at the time, and already owned cranes, manlifts, forklifts, and earthmoving and compaction equipment at the time. We needed a new shop and were considering expanding the existing business into metal buildings. Learned quite a bit in the process, and ultimately decided not to get into that phase of construction work.I was surprised at how well everything lined up and went together. In a subsequent conversation with a friend who has a crew and does contract erection of metal buildings, he told me ours was one of the brands he liked to erect, but that there were multiple no-name brands out there, sold primarily via ads in the back of magazines and "overstock" ads in newspapers, where basically none of the holes will line up. He said he learned early on in the business to stay away from even quoting on any brand he wasn't familiar with as he could quote twice his own normal price and still lose money. One option I'd recommend on any pre-engineered building is a standing seam roof vs the standard screwed down roof. In the 27 years since we finished our building, we've never had any roof leaks whatsoever. The same may be true of some screwed down roofs, but I've yet to ever talk to the owner of one who didn't complain of leaks over time.Another option worth considering if there's a possible need for expansion in the future is substituting a rigid frame for an end frame on one end of the building. With a rigid frame, the siding can be stripped off and the length of the building extended without any major issues. To extend on an end frame requires replacement with a rigid frame. IIRC, the cost difference wasn't bad at all.I'd also stay far away from any sprayed foam insulation for the reasons readhead mentioned. Good R values until it begins to cause problems with the building skin, and then its a disaster to undo and replace. In the shop portion of our building, we decided to forego the use of steel interior liner panels up to the first girt line for protection of the insulation, and instead use OSB for that purpose as it would be more handy for attaching shelves, hangers, etc. BIG MISTAKE. That wood that seemed like a great idea essentially doubled the fire insurance rates on our building when the insurance company's inspector did a walk thru prior to issuing the policy. One of the more expensive lessons of our metal building education
